Frequently Asked Questions

Welcome to our FAQ! Here you’ll find answers to common questions about flowers, subscriptions, events, and our farm in Delaware Water Gap and the Poconos.

Can I drop off a vase for reuse?

Absolutely! Let’s face it — we all have a cabinet above the fridge full of old vases. Instead of tossing them, bring your glass vases to our farmstand on Mountain Road. We’ll reuse them for our floral designs, keeping them out of landfills and helping us keep costs down.

Bonus: If you let us know you’re dropping off vases, we’ll give you a voucher for a discount or bouquet as a thank you!

Do you still have an antique store?

Unfortunately, we closed our antique shop in town after foot traffic declined due to road closures. We continue to occasionally pair our antiques with our florals. There’s still a great store in that space, just not ours. We highly recommend visiting Lotus Moth Vintage, a local favorite in the Delaware Water Gap area.

How did you get the name Asparagus Sunshine?

The name comes from my father’s band, Asparagus Sunshine, which he co-founded in the 1970s. While cleaning out my family’s estate in 2019, I found his vintage green suitcase with the original logo. It was the perfect fit for my business — blending family history, joy, and creativity. We’ve adapted the logo slightly, and soon hope to offer apparel with the original design.

Can I buy flowers directly from the farm?

We are not open to the public. Our flower farm is part of our home, scattered across 2 acres with half an acre of annuals and perennials — a “beautiful hot mess,” if you will!

However: we occasionally host invite-only farm events for members. Sign up for our newsletter to be notified about pick-ups, workshops, and special floral gatherings in Delaware Water Gap and the Poconos.

Are you a florist?

I don’t officially call myself a florist. I prefer designer — because I don’t mass produce bouquets. Everything we create is seasonal, local, and inspired by what’s blooming naturally. Each arrangement is unique, grown with care right here in the Delaware Water Gap and Poconos area.

How do floral subscriptions work?

We offer weekly or monthly floral subscriptions featuring locally grown, seasonal blooms. Subscribers in Delaware Water Gap, the Poconos, and surrounding areas can pick up their flowers at our farmstand or receive them via delivery, depending on their plan. Each bouquet is unique and designed to bring joy and beauty to your home.

Do you offer flowers for events?

Yes! We provide à la carte florals only for weddings, engagement parties, fundraisers, showers, and other celebrations. All arrangements are created using flowers grown right here on our farm, allowing us to design naturally seasonal florals that reflect the beauty of what’s blooming at the time of your event.

To give every celebration the attention it deserves, we book only one wedding or large event per month, ensuring our flowers — and our creative focus — are dedicated entirely to you during that time. Arrangements are available for pickup or delivery, with setup handled by you or your event coordinator.

Are your flowers pet-safe?

We take care to minimize toxic flowers, but some blooms like lilies, foxgloves, and delphiniums can be dangerous for pets. Always keep flowers out of reach of animals. For a full list of safe and toxic plants, please see the ASPCA guide.

Do you grow organically or sustainably?

Yes! We use organic growing methods, plant native flowers for pollinators, and rely on beneficial insects instead of chemicals for pest control. Sustainability and kindness to the land, animals, and community are at the heart of everything we do.

Where can I find your flowers locally?

Our blooms are available at:

  • The Village Farmer (Delaware Water Gap, PA)
  • Our farmstand on Mountain Road (Delaware Water Gap, PA) Wednesday through Monday (closed Tuesday).

Do you offer roses?

We don’t grow roses. Roses require specialized space and care, so instead we choose to highlight unique, locally grown flowers that reflect the season and the natural style of Asparagus Sunshine.
